Chronicles of the Hotel Sonnschupfer
Formerly run as a farm, the estate grew steadily after the Second World War due to the initial development of tourism. Constant additions over the decades have gradually extended the Sonnschupfer. From a farm to the first guest rooms then to a pension and finally to today's hotel, the Hotel Sonnschupfer has enjoyed a constant evolution.
Following a tragic hotel fire in 2010, most of the Hotel Sonnschupfer has been rebuilt and now welcomes you with every convenience. Modern distinction with friendly charm reflects our philosophy and in this way we hope to continue successfully into the future.
3-star Superior for the Hotel Sonnschupfer
We are delighted to be able to use the additional designation "S" for superior in our hotel description as of the winter season 2012/2013. This makes us the first and at the moment the only 3-star Superior hotel in Schladming.
What does "Superior" mean?
Superior denotes - on the basis of very good, refined, up-to-date hardware throughout the entire establishment - a clear extra in provision of service and services offered, quality tested by a mystery guest check in line with classification procedures.
Why not a 4 star hotel?
In the course of the classification procedure we emphatically decided on a 3-star Superior hotel classification and against a 4-star classification. Since our refurbishment, we see ourselves as an innovative, modern hotel managed with a friendly, family-style charm.
The Superior classification is re-tested every three years and for us it is the best means of ensuring that we are keeping up with the times!
What does that mean for you?
The "S" in each category of stars stands for "superior", "service", "subjective perception" and "soft criteria" and denotes upscale service and top class service quality.
Direct contact with our guests and personal care and attention is more important to us than ticking off items on a check list. Each guest has a different idea of what makes a perfect holiday and it is only through our personal efforts and flexibility that we can achieve this for our guests. This is our own definition of the meaning of "Superior".
