Sonnschupfer alpine pasture in the Preunegg valley
The Sonnschupfer alpine farm is situated in the beautiful Preuneggtal, only about 15 kilometres from the Hotel Sonnschupfer. It is not operated as a commercial enterprise and only serves in summer as grazing pasture for our cows!
Depending on our guests' preference, our alpine farm can be visitied and an extended tour to to the Ursprungalm, which is close by, to the Styrian Kalkspitze or to the Reiteralm can be done.
Insofar as our guests want to and the weather plays along - we organise a cosy afternoon barbecue at the hotel's own Sonnschupfer alpine hut.

"Wild Water" National Geographic hiking trail
Along 12 kilometres and 14 stops you'll learn exciting information all about water. The trail leads to the highest waterfalls in Styria, the Riesach waterfalls. A further highlight is a hike through the Silberkarklamm (gorge) in Ramsau Rössing. Take the time to observe the rushing water which for thousands of years has been digging itself a path through the narrow gully. After about 35 minutes and 200 metres gain in altitude you will reach the Silberkar hut at 1,250m elevation. Enjoy the spectacular view from the sun terrace and let yourself be spoiled by the alpine innkeepers with their own farm produce.
Extraordinary views are guaranteed on a hike to the Ursprungalm in Schladming. At 1,610 metres above sea level at the foot of the Styrian Kalkspitze in the Schladming Tauern you'll find a wonderful hiking destination for young and old. This alpine farm is also accessible by mountain bike. From the alpine farm you can reach the Giglachseen, probably the most well-known mountain lakes in Styria, in about one hour on foot.
