The Gerhardter family has been the owner of the Sonnschupfer in Schladming for many generations. With the takeover by Reinhard Gerhardter junior in 2010, it is already the eighth generation that animates the Sonnschupfer.
We are particularly proud of the award of the Austrian Environmental Seal - since the year 2022.
Since 2025, we have also received the 4-star certification. The "S" in each star class stands for "Superior", "Service", "Subjective Perception", and "Soft Criteria" and defines high-quality service and the best service quality. Contact with the guest and individual care is and remains more important to us than points on a checklist. Every guest has different ideas of a nice holiday, and only through personal commitment and flexibility can we achieve this. This is our own definition of the meaning of "4-star certification".

Previously operated as a farming estate, the farm steadily grew after World War II due to initial tourism developments.
Permanent extensions over the decades gradually expanded the Sonnschupfer. From the farm to the first guest rooms to the guesthouse and the current hotel, Hotel Sonnschupfer has enjoyed consistent development.
After a tragic hotel fire in 2010, Hotel Sonnschupfer was mostly rebuilt and now welcomes you with all amenities.
A modern line with familial charm reflects our philosophy, and we hope to continue looking forward to a successful future.

Where does the name "Sonnschupfer" come from?
The name "Sonnschupfer" goes back to an old family name. Originally, it referred to those who lived on the sunny side – hence the connection to the sun in the name.
